"While I think that nothing will come from these negotiations, I will sign my name in the interests of Gralan unity."
"Lachieboy, most likely nothing will come of them. But this is politics. We have to try to negotiate, even if we are sure they will scorn us anyway. Thank you."
"Your Boldness," said Titus, Nicholas's aide and follower, "I believe that Uvurith has disappeared mysteriously again. It will take time to find him for his signature. It may be best just to forge on with these."
"You're right," said Nicholas. "With Gerk's, Lachieboy's and my signature, it may be enough. But we still need to get a message to the secessionists. Any ideas?"
"As I believe I suggested before," Mr Lot said, "we should merely send it to the appropriate standing locations. We know that Luna's Vale has had clear contact with the secessionists. We know that Skoitamashu has moved there to support the secessionists. And it shouldn't be too hard to track down where Liam claims to be ruling from, and send a third copy there. Between those three copies, the appropriate people will find out. I would suggest mages organise the delivery, being able to teleport and all."
"Quite. I'll arrange some mages for the delivery."
"Excellent," Graham Lot said. "Now there's just the small matter of payment. Would you prefer to see the bill before or after the conference?"
"Before we hired them would have been best. Show it to me now."
"A mere 500 erb, with an additional 100 erb per day should the conference go beyond 7 days," Graham Lot said. "But believe me, they will be greatful if you accept this price without dispute. Magroth Industries are becoming famous across Shireroth for their generosity to those who give them opportunities to help."
"500 erb will be very reasonable if it means we can sort out this secessionist business peacefully. I'll approve the transfer myself."
And how much do we charge the secessionists?
