But no one's going to enter combat with only rank 8-12s if they know the enemy has 15s, because they can be overpowered. Even if they can't be, it seems like they can.

@ Fides: Not quite. Rank 12 would become the most powerful rank, but it wouldn't be stupidly highly costed (I personally at rank 15 cost more than 5000). It just eats into any kind of orbat.

Plus, at those lower ranks, you can cost in a lot more. It's a fairly exponential cost curve.

Enough rank 3s can swarm a 15, and still have enough left to swarm a 15, and still have enough left to swarm a 15, and still have enough left to swarm a 15, and still have enough left to etc

However, I expect the reality is we're just all overpowered PCs, and we'd need to all agree to drop our main characters and start again building up for much to change in that regard.

Speaking for myself and Gerk here, I (partially) object. It makes very little sense for me (or Gerk) to have to reset our characters, since neither of us has any (personal) casting ability. We'd have to go back and start from... where we are? It makes little sense for us two.

Now for people like Andreas and Bayen, who have been accumulating magic power since we started the system, it would make more sense to do it if they agreed, since they literally have everything to loose.

sorry to disappoint you, Longbow, but Gerk isn't going to remain magic-less for long. in fact, he shouldn't have remained magic-less for even this long... if only i had been more diligent in my character developments...
